160°C Bimetal Thermostat for Automatic Thermal Protection
This bimetal thermostat is an essential component for protecting electrical appliances against overheating. It automatically trips at 160°C and resumes operation after cooling, preventing damage and extending equipment life. Ideal for coffee makers, water heaters, irons, electric radiators, and other household or industrial appliances.
What you get with this product
- Automatic overheating protection — trips at 160°C and resets itself after cooling
- Universal compatibility — standard installation on coffee makers, irons, water heaters, and electric radiators
- 10A at 250V switching capacity — sufficient for most household appliances
- Robust construction with bimetal and metal casing — resistant to wear and repeated heating cycles
- Quick replacement without special tools — mounts on existing holes with standard screws
- Increased safety for appliances — prevents fires and malfunctions caused by excessive temperature
How it works and how to install
The thermostat uses a bimetallic strip that deforms when heated. When the temperature reaches 160°C, the strip automatically breaks the electrical circuit. After cooling to a safe temperature, the contact is automatically re-established. For installation, disconnect the appliance from the power supply, fix the thermostat to the surface to be monitored using the mounting holes, and connect the wires to the terminal posts. Observe polarity and ensure a solid contact for correct operation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it reset itself after tripping?
Yes, it is auto-reset. After the temperature drops below the safety threshold, the thermostat automatically returns to the closed position and restores power.
Can I use the thermostat for 220V and 12V appliances?
This model is designed for a maximum of 250V and a current of up to 10A. It is not recommended for very low voltage circuits without appropriate adaptation.
How precise is the tripping temperature?
The bimetal thermostat trips at approximately 160°C with a tolerance of +/- 5°C, sufficient for efficient protection of most household appliances.
