How it works and how to install it
The HA8 photovoltaic protection box receives DC current from two strings of solar panels via the MC4 connectors on the bottom, protects each string individually with individual DC fuses (DALBI LQPV-32, 1000V, 10x38), and the combined current passes through the C32 main circuit breaker before exiting to the inverter. The LD-40 surge arresters (500V DC, Imax 40kA) protect downstream equipment in case of lightning or voltage spikes. Installation is done on a wall or on the panel structure, using the four mounting points of the enclosure; cables from the panels and to the inverter are inserted through the sealed cable glands on the bottom cover.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this box with panels that generate more than 500V per string?
No. The maximum allowed input voltage is 500V DC; for systems with higher voltage, a box variant with a 1000V DC rating is required.
Are the MC4 connectors included or do I need to buy them separately?
The MC4 connectors are pre-installed on the box, on both DC+ inputs and DC- outputs, so that the cables from the panels connect directly.
Is it suitable for outdoor mounting, on the roof or on the facade of the house?
Yes, the IP65 enclosure protects it against rain and dust, being approved for outdoor installation.
