Reliable Protection for DC 1000V Photovoltaic Circuits
The DC 1000V / 16A bipolar MCB circuit breaker is designed exclusively for protecting direct current circuits in photovoltaic installations. It automatically interrupts the circuit in case of short circuit or overload, preventing damage to solar panels, inverters, and wiring. Its compact DIN rail format makes it compatible with any standard solar electrical panel.
What you get with this product
- Dual protection — simultaneously interrupts the positive and negative poles of the DC circuit, eliminating the risk of dangerous electrical arcs specific to direct current
- Compatible with photovoltaic systems up to 1000V DC — covers standard string configurations without additional components
- Instantaneous short-circuit tripping — 10000A breaking capacity, protects expensive equipment before damage occurs
- Quick mounting on 35mm DIN rail — secures in the solar panel in minutes, without special tools
- Robust construction for outdoor and harsh environments — withstands temperature and humidity variations specific to solar installations
- Can be manually reset after tripping — does not require replacement after an incident, unlike fuse links
How it works and how to install it
The DC 1000V bipolar MCB constantly monitors the current in the photovoltaic circuit and mechanically trips both poles simultaneously when it detects an overload or short circuit, completely interrupting the DC current flow. Installation is done by simply attaching it to the DIN rail in the solar electrical panel, followed by connecting the DC cables to the input and output terminals — an operation accessible to any authorized electrician. After remedying the cause, the circuit breaker is manually reset by operating the lever.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a regular AC MCB instead of this one for solar panels?
No. Standard AC MCBs are designed for alternating current and cannot extinguish the electrical arc generated by direct current at high voltages, which presents a major fire risk. It is mandatory to use a certified DC MCB.
Will this circuit breaker fit my existing solar panel?
Yes, if the panel has a standard 35mm DIN rail — which is used in almost all photovoltaic panels on the market. A width of 2 modules (approximately 36mm) must be available in the panel.
What happens after the circuit breaker trips — does it need to be replaced?
No. Unlike fuse links, the MCB is manually reset after identifying and remedying the cause that triggered the trip. Its lifespan is not affected by normal tripping.
