How it works and how to use it
The voltage test pen works on the principle of the neon lamp: when the metal tip comes into contact with a live conductor of 220V-250V, the circuit closes through the user's body (in complete safety, without electric shock) and the internal neon lamp lights up. To use, hold the pen by the insulated handle and touch the test point – wire, outlet, switch – with the tip. If the lamp lights up, there is voltage. It requires no batteries or maintenance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to use, or do I risk getting a shock?
Yes, it is completely safe. The current that passes through the body to light the neon lamp is extremely small, below the perception threshold, insufficient to cause electric shock.
Does it also work at 12V or only at 220V?
No, this model is designed exclusively for detecting mains voltage of 220V-250V. It will not detect low voltages of 12V, 24V, or 48V.
Do I need to replace the neon lamp at some point?
Neon lamps have a very long lifespan, on the order of tens of thousands of hours. Under normal use conditions, you will not need to replace it.
